About the MIU
Cheshunt Minor Injuries Unit (MIU) is run by Assura Lea Valley LLP on behalf of the NHS Hertfordshire (Primary Care Trust). We provide patients with access to high quality healthcare in Hertfordshire.
We are committed to providing our patients with a nurse-led service and offer a range of treatments for minor injuries. It has been designed to treat patients who have an injury that is severe but not immediately life threatening.
Examples include:
- Cuts that may or may not need stitching or other forms of treatment;
- Suspected broken arms, legs, fingers, etc; and
- Scalds caused by skin contact with hot liquids and surfaces.
The MIU can only treat minor injuries and does not treat minor illness. There are no doctors at the MIU, it is staffed by specifically trained nurse practitioners.
We provide patients with the opportunity to get treated much closer to home without the need to travel to an A&E department.
The Cheshunt Minor Injuries Unit opened on 1 October 2011 and replaced the Cheshunt Urgent Care Centre.
