Patients with special needs
The Cheshunt MIU is fully compliant with the Equality Act and has wheelchair access throughout. Facilities are available for the deaf. All patient information guides are available in Braille, on disk and in large print if required.
Disabled parking is available in the Cheshunt MIU car park. If you require assistance when visiting the MIU, please let us know as soon as you arrive.
If you want to have someone with you during your appointment then you can request a chaperone. This could be a trained member of our staff or a person of your choosing who is over 18 years old. The clinician will consider whether or not it is appropriate for a relative or friend to act as a chaperone and may ask for a member of staff to also be present. Please let us know if you would like a chaperone to be present.
If either the patient or the clinician wishes a chaperone to be present or either is uncomfortable with the choice of chaperone, the appointment may be delayed to a later date when a chaperone or alternative chaperone is available.
Non-English speaking patients
All patient information guides are available in other languages upon request. Please contact us stating which information guide you would like and in which language. Please inform us upon arrival if you require an interpreter during your consultation.
